Navigating the Jail System in Apple Valley and San Bernardino County
The Town of Apple Valley does not maintain its own police force. Instead, it contracts for police services with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. If deputies from this department take you or your loved into custody in Apple Valley or any other nearby community, you will be transported to the High Desert Detention Center, located in Adelanto. This facility, classified as a Type II jail, does much more than hold you for a few days like a Type I jail. In fact, you may stay in a Type II facility throughout your booking or arraignment process, while you await the start of your trial and during trial itself. In addition, you may remain in custody in the same location if your trial ends in a conviction.
People held in the High Desert Detention Center typically avoid one of the most unpleasant parts of getting arrested: being transferred a larger, potentially more dangerous jail located a substantial distance away. However, this does not mean that inmates at the facility have it easy. No jail is built for comfort, and every new inmate faces daily problems and inconveniences while awaiting trial. Fortunately, the bail bonding process can help free you from custody at least temporarily. However, in order for this process to work with maximum speed and efficiency, you must have help from an experienced bail bondsman who understands how the system works in San Bernardino County.
Experience When You Need it
At Herbert Bail Bonds, we have decades of experience working with the San Bernardino County Detentions and Corrections Bureau and all of its various facilities. We began working with arrestees at the High Desert Detention Center back in 2006 when this facility first opened its doors. Over the years, we’ve developed unequaled familiarity with the Center and its procedures. This familiarity helps us guide you through the bail process as quickly as possible and obtain your release without any unnecessary delays or stumbling blocks.
There’s no way around the fact that arrest and even temporary incarceration are among the most stressful experiences you will probably ever have. While going through the process of securing a bail bond, the last thing you need is procedures that decrease your convenience and interfere with your goal of obtaining freedom. At Herbert Bail Bonds, we take this truth to heart. Feel free to make your arrangements in person, over the phone or by fax communication. If you want to make in-person contact, we can meet you at the High Desert Detention Center, your home or our area offices in Pomona.
Experience has shown us that many people need additional assistance when helping an incarcerated family member or loved one. For this reason, we also provide a range of additional services. One of the most commonly used services is help obtaining a lower bail when the court sets an amount that puts a bond out of your financial reach. We also frequently help our clients find reliable private investigators to do background work on their case before trial.
Affordable Bond Payments
In San Bernardino County and all other jurisdictions throughout the State of California, the maximum cost of a bail bond is 10% of the full amount of the bail set by the court. Most people pay this rate, although certain segments of the population (including military personnel and individuals who hire private attorneys) qualify for a slightly lower 8% bond fee. Whichever bond rate you must pay, we understand that your financial situation may not allow you to cover your costs in cash. In some circumstances, you can forego the need for a cash payment if you have a co-signer willing to assume responsibility for the bond. For higher bond fees, we typically need some sort of valuable collateral to offset our risk.
