The San Bernardino Department of Corrections Can Be Tricky
Barstow is home to just over 20,000 residents, which means it isn’t large enough to justify having a detention center. Instead, individuals arrested in Barstow are held at the Barstow Sheriff’s Department directly after booking. The holding area at the station does not have the amenities needed to hold inmates for an extended period of time; as such, inmates are never held for more than a few days, and most are moved to a larger detention center within hours.
While having more amenities might sound nice, we assure you it isn’t. Essentially, all it means is having a designated eating space and access to a shower. And way more inmates to share it all with. Plus, once you are at a larger detention facility, processing times slow down significantly. This means that the inmate will remain in custody for hours, and even days, longer than needed. As soon as possible, call us. Every second counts, and our goal is to make sure you or your loved one spends as little time in custody as possible.
Now, if you are unable to contact us before transfer to a larger detention center is made, all is not lost. We have a lot of experience working with these centers in San Bernardino County and we can speed up the process a bit. Whether you are at Central Detention Center, High Desert Detention Center, or West Valley Detention Center, we can come post bail and get you out of custody.
We Have the Experience You Need
What allows Herbert Bail Bonds to make things go faster for you? In essence, it is our experience. We have been working with the San Bernardino County Department of Corrections for close to 5 decades, so we know the people, the paperwork, and the process well. No matter which agency you need us to work with—from local police to immigration enforcement—we know what to do to get the job done.
We Work to Make the Process Convenient for You
You do not need to come to our office to get the ball rolling—which is very good news if you are the one in custody. Instead, we come to you. Our bail bondsmen will meet with you at the holding facility or at your home. We also make arrangements by fax and phone for those who have no one local to help them. No matter where you are from or where your friends and family reside, we can help.
In addition to our standard bail bond service, we have other services that are designed to make the process more convenient for you. We can help you select a private investigator to make your case in court, assist you with arrest warrants, and determine if you are eligible for bail reduction.
Paying for Your Bail Bond
If you cannot afford to pay your bail outright, a bail bond is the only other option for you. With a bail bond, rather than paying the full amount of bail, you pay 10% of the cost of bail to the bail bondsman. This 10% fee is fixed throughout the State of California and is set by the California Department of Insurance.
There are cases where you can pay 8% instead of 10%, but you can never be asked to pay more than 10%. If you run into a bondsman who asks for more, you can report them to the California Department of Insurance and should immediately seek out the help of another bondsman. The criteria for paying just 8% of the bond is below, and you only need to meet one of the items on the list to qualify.
- The arrested party has retained a private criminal defense attorney.
- A party to the transaction is a member of a workers’ union.
- A party to the transaction is a veteran or active member of the United States Military.
If bond is very high, you and your loved ones may not be able to afford even the 10% or 8% that the bail bond costs. In these cases, Herbert Bail Bonds offers flexible financing as well as repayment plan options. We are also open to many forms of collateral, approaching each case individually in terms of what we will accept and if a cosigner will be needed.
Get Out of Jail and Back to Life
Sitting behind bars isn’t a good way to spend a weekend, or even a few hours on a workday. Not only is it an unenjoyable experience, but it also prevents you from attending to the important things in life. The longer you are in custody, the greater the disturbance you experience. Herbert Bail Bonds can get you out of jail, back to life, all while giving you the chance to fight your case.
